SCHEDULE and PRICING (CHOREOGRAPHY ADDED):
WORKSHOP PRICING

CHOREOGRAPHY WORKSHOP ONLY - 100.00 $CAD

1). BEGINNERS - THE BASICS
Understanding and learning the tango walk, the embrace and posture; understanding 'attitude' in movement.
A class fit for absolute beginners and at the same time for all those who, having danced for several years, appreciate the unequivocal importance of walking well and the challenges it presents.

2). CHACARERA & ZAMBA
This class at the request of my friends in Vancouver

3). CONNECTION & MUSICALITY IN DANCING
Musicality is the key characteristic of improvised dancing. The goal of this class is:
-to improve the ability of partners to dance together to the rhythm, the melody and the mood of a song
-to understand the structure of the song
-to recognize the musical phrase, when it begins and ends, and the implications in the lead/follow anticipation of a choreographic (pattern) change
-to detect accents and pauses and use them to enhance the dancing experience, to become more creative in the dancers' application of style

4). CHANGES OF DIRECTION AND ENERGY
Leaders must develop awareness of a number of things in order to successfully find their way on the dance floor. Being able to almost instantly take advantage of spaces opening around them is of critical importance.
In this class the focus is directed towards studying the various possibilities one has to change direction. At the same time I wish to introduce the concept of energy in the context of this change of direction, how it is transferred from one partner to another, how it can change in quality and intensity.
Changes of direction and energy is a vast subject and it will be approached in a progressive manner, from simple to very complex, such that everyone will find a challenge.

5). PURE TECHNIQUE
This is a technique class, no partner is necessary. I am offering a progressive series of exercises aiming to improve strength, speed of reaction, balance and posture. I will also dedicate a significant portion of the time to adornments for men and women.

6). GIROS: TURNS - MOLINETES, ENROSQUES AND MORE…
Here I want to offer a challenge in exploring various footwork possibilities in single and multiple turns.
We will cover technical elements and troubleshooting in partners' connection during the execution of these movements.
I encourage you to bring forward issues/difficulties you may have encountered and for which you have not found yet a reasonable solution. I will do my best to address them, time permitting.

7). OFF AXIS MOVEMENT - MY PERSPECTIVE
Leaning in and out, technical challenges in finding and sharing a common axis. Discovering our own “modulus” of elasticity: our limits and beyond.

8). CHOREOGRAPHY
This class has been added at the request of several Vancouver tangueros. The class is being planned as learning a segment of choreography on a set music piece. It consists of two 3-hour sessions with a 15 minutes break in the middle of each session. In this class is expected that each dancer has his/her own partner and will not change over the duration of this program. It is assumed that all participants have a broad knowledge of tango elements.
Cost: $100/person; discount applies to those who take additional classes and to full time students
A minimum of 8 registrants (four couples) is required in order to keep this class on the schedule. Therefore, please register in advance if you want to participate. To consider the registration we require a $30.00 deposit fee. The fee is non-refundable unless the class does not take place. I am happy to take in consideration requests for music.
Registration remains open until the 23rd of August (milonga at the Polish Hall). If you want to take this special program, please register with Monica in person, or make a cheque payable to Monica Monty and mail to: 4438 Arbutus Street, Vancouver BC, V6J4A2
